After Yehoshua chose the disciples he gave them authority and sent them out to evangelize.
Mattithyahu/Matt.10:1-4 And having called His twelve talmidim[i] near, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every bodily weakness.
2And these are the names of the twelve emissaries: first, Shim’on[ii], who is called Kepha, and Andri his brother; Ya’aqov[iii] the son of Zabdai,[iv] and Yochanan [v] his brother;
3 Philippos[vi] and Barholomi[vii]T’oma[viii] and Mattithyahu the tax collector; Ya’aqov of Heleph[ix], and Lavi[x] whose last name was Taddai[xi]
Yehoshua did nothing except what He saw the Father in Heaven doing. When He was accused of breaking the Sabbath He simply answered:
17 “My Father works until now, and I work.” 18 Because of this, then , the Yahudim were seeking all the more to kill Him, ‘because not only was He breaking the Shabbat, but He also called Elohi His own father, making Himself equal with Elohim.’19 Therefore Yehoshua responded and said to them, “truly, truly, I say to you, the ben is able to do naught by Himself, but only that which He sees the father doing, because whatever He does, the Ben[xiv]also does likewise.”
Today I am considering the word CHOSEN. We noticed that Yehoshua chose 12 disciples who later on He called apostles, or sent out ones. They were chosen because the Father Himself chose them, and Yehoshua obey His Father. He chose 11 faithful apostles, and one who was not faithful, but eventually at the right time he betrayed Him.
Therefore, we see that although He had many follow Him, He chose only twelve well knowing that one of them was a devil. He gave Judas every opportunity to change, but Yehovah knew that he would be used to get His only Ben crucified, and as result fulfill prophesies. Yehovah is all knowing. He is the self existing Elohim, and it was not a surprise to Him, for His Ben/Son to die such death. It was told us in advance. Yehoshua had to die in order for us all to be set free from the curse that sin brought upon us. I will not talk about curses now, for I am talking only about the word CHOSEN.
Not everyone will make it to heaven.
Mattithyahu 19:23 And Yehoshua said to His talmidim, “Truly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the reign of the shamayim.[xv]
Yehoshua said this because the rich man could not leave this wealth in order to follow Him. Please read this whole chapter to understand why He made this comment. And then He continued to say the following:
29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting chai.[xvi]
30 But many who are first shall be last, and the last first.”
Money is not bad, if it is used as Yehovah gave it us to be used! He does not make us rich in order to seat in mansions, and have guards around the house for fear of been robbed. Many prominent people have guards not only to prevent robberies, but to prevent finding out what is really going on behind those gates! What a shame for some ministers who do such things! They continue to increase and become millionaires neglecting to support the poor, as Yehovah commands.
And there is more!
We should also realize that integrity and holiness is not preached. What we hear in most mega churches is prosperity. Give the tithes and you will prosper. We also hear of the feel-good-grace gospel.
Most mega preaches avoid speaking about the sins of abortion, of gossiping, homosexuality, stealing, and idolatry, just to name of few sins.
Who’s Elohim, or whose “god” are they preaching? We must be careful to not generalize too much, for there are a few churches that feed the poor, and help the poor. But the salary of the pastor, generally speaking, could feed at least ten families!
Is it a sin to have a mansion? I cannot answer this, but Yehovah is the just judge. However, I am concerned on how so many ministers have become so wealthy, and are not providing for their own flock is in need.
Do you earnestly believe that so many big churches are preaching against sin? I pray for those pastors who avoid speaking about sin, for fear of losing their 501c3, to repent today.
They have specialized on preaching words to make people feel good about themselves, that it does not even matter if they do not read the bible, because they are under grace, therefore they can do what they feel like doing. “Just get rich and be happy, they say, for God loves you.” But they choose to never mention about the fear of Yehovah that helps all of us not to sin.
They never speak about hell, but only eternal bliss. They are always instructing the congregations to bring them all their tithes so they can prosper.
If you are one of those pastors, please go on your knees now and repent for keeping so much money for yourself, instead of helping many starving people.
Let us imagine….
Yes, can you imagine how the congregation would react to the following message from one pastor who only preachers the feel good message.
“Church, I repent for not speaking the truth of the gospel to you. I avoided speaking the whole truth for my own benefit. I did not let you know that that unless you repent you are going to hell. I was afraid of losing my 501c3 and lose your tithes and offerings, and maybe go to jail. I loved money and the praise of men more than I loved God.
Today I am giving 50% of all my goods to give to the poor. If I have stolen from anyone, including you, I will repay you fourfold. I will also give all the proceeds of the books I wrote to the poor. I will not keep any royalties. I will no longer drive this Rolls-Royce, fly the Jets, and sell my mansion. I will give away all those things and receive a regular salary just as you do. Please forgive me for taking so much money for myself instead of giving it to those in need.
But I have to tell you now, that many of you today, if you do will not repent from pornography, homosexuality, lesbianism, adultery and murdering your own babies, and also gossiping and stealing, among other things, you all are going to be judged by Yehovah and go to hell. Please forgive me for not preaching you the whole truth, and come pray for me now. I need your prayers for God to forgive me and I ask you also to forgive me. If you do not want to change and begin to serve Yehovah with all your heart, I will have to resign now.” I can no longer live in sin.”
How many people would stay in that church? Would be the same mega church with the same people? That would be very nice indeed! However, the way is narrow. Let us read what Zakkai[xvii], the tax collector did when he encountered Yehoshua and found the narrow way.
Luqas[xviii] 19:8 But Zakkai stood up and said t the Adon, “Look, Adonai, I give half of my possessions to the poor. And If I have taken whatever from anyone by false accusation, I repay fourfold.”
9 And Yehoshua said to him, “Today deliverance has come to this house-since he also is a son of Avraham.”
How many people form a mega church you think would be delivered as Zakkai?
Mattithyahu 7:13- “Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide-and the way is broad-that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it. 14 Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to chai, and there are few who find it.”
Do not be jealous of pastors who have such big churches and are rich. If you are a pastor with a small church, you may be preaching the whole counsel of Yehovah. continue to do what you are doing, and you will eventually receive the reward of Yehovah and hear the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter you into the joy of your Master.” “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
The chosen are few, indeed! They are chosen because of their obedience and faithfulness to Him, and chose to pay the price of living righteously.
They may not have too many miracles, because their congregation live right and obey the Word of Yehovah. Those pastors are lovers of Yehovah and preach truth at the cost of their own lives. They love Truth more than riches and the praises of men. I hope you will be chosen.
Until next time Shalom!
